I need suggestion for deployment of EDI idoc for Purchase orders. We have a 3rd party with which we are sharing released PO details in CSV file format currently and we will be replacing this with EDI interface. 3rd party system will be accepting ORDERS message type as new message and ORDCHG message type message as change message.
We have built interface message using ORDERS (new orders) and ORDCHG (change order) message type in SAP with custom segments for sending down information of purchase order to our 3rd party when PO is released. The functionality of message triggering for newly created PO is working nicely.
When we go live in production environment there will be cases for purchase order which are already sent to 3rd party in CSV file earlier, and if these PO are changed in SAP it will generate ORDERS message and not ORDCHG message. This is because standard SAP reads if the message with output type was already sent or not. If it does not find a successful output type in purchase order then it creates ORDERS message.
However ORDERS message would fail in 3rd party system as they already have those PO in their system and they expect ORDCHG message from SAP.
I understand that this is cut over for the open purchase order but I am not sure what is the best way to make ORDCHG trigger for the PO which are already released
Please let me know if anyone has come across situation earlier and what would be the best way forward.
